Skeleton Costume

Skeletons are an essential part of Halloween whether worn as a costume or hung in the venue or home to contribute to the spooky atmosphere. Skeletons feature in many stories and myths as a kind of physically manifested undead. Usually they are raised by a sorcerer or witch and rarely have any self-direction.

If you want to dress as a skeleton,  there are several choices. You can be a straightforward skeleton where the costume just displays bones or you can be a zombie skeleton if you want to be a bit more frightening. Zombie skeletons are basically the undead in the form of skeletons and tend to be wearing some clothes.

You can also be a Buccaneer Bones Pirate as portrayed in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl. The pirates in the film appear normal in the daylight but in moonlight their skeleton nature is revealed.

You can also choose from a variety of Grim Reaper costumes. To be the Grim Reaper it’s essential to get a large scythe to complete the costume. The Grim Reaper is the personification of Death. He is usually wears a black cloak with a hood. He’s also called the Angel of Death. His job is to conduct the souls of the newly dead into the afterlife. He moves by gliding rather than appearing to walk. So if you are wearing his costume you should try to move as smoothly as possible. He is able to turn his head around completely – something which you may have difficulty copying.

To create a spooky atmosphere in your home or venue it’s not too difficult to make one you can hang up. You can find templates you can print out from the internet. You can find hanging skeleton instructions here.  If that’s too much effort you can easily buy one. If you want to be really spooky you can get a glow in the dark skeleton.

If you don’t want to hang a whole skeleton, it’s very atmospheric to have a few skulls around. You can even serve drinks in skullcups preferably red wine or juice!
